How long does the trip take
It depends on the train. From 12 October 2026, the ride from Beograd Centar to TPS Novi Sad takes:
- SOKO: about 46 minutes
- Inter Regio: about 50 minutes
- Regio Express: about 60 minutes
- Regio: about 67 minutes
TPS Novi Sad is roughly 4 km from the city centre, so allow for a city bus ride on top. If your train ends at Petrovaradin, take city bus line 3 into central Novi Sad: the free Srbija Voz bus no longer runs since 12 October 2026.
Soko or Regio: which train to pick
Soko is the fastest option: air-conditioned, with reserved seating, USB chargers and two classes. Seats are limited and peak departures sell out, so book ahead. More in our Soko train guide.
Regio trains call at more stations, including places like Tošin bunar, Zemun, Stara Pazova, Inđija, Sremski Karlovci and Petrovaradin, before reaching TPS Novi Sad, which makes them handy if you are not travelling centre to centre. No reservation needed, seating is free.
Stations on the route
In Belgrade, trains depart from Beograd Centar station, better known as Prokop. In Novi Sad, from 12 October 2026:
- SOKO calls at Tošin bunar and TPS Novi Sad, then continues to Vrbas, Bačka Topola and Subotica. It no longer stops at Petrovaradin.
- Inter Regio trains between Beograd Centar and Subotica (leaving Belgrade at 6:57, 10:57, 14:57 and 18:57) call at TPS Novi Sad and no longer stop at Tošin bunar or Petrovaradin.
- Regio and Regio Express trains still stop at Tošin bunar and Petrovaradin, and now continue to TPS Novi Sad.
Petrovaradin remains the terminus for trains from the Šid and Sremska Mitrovica direction, the Inter Regio from Užice and a few late trains from Belgrade. The free bus between Petrovaradin and Novi Sad city centre was withdrawn from 12 October 2026, according to the Srbija Voz notice of 14 October. Tickets and prices
The fare depends on the train type and class: Regio is the cheapest, Soko costs more, and first class on Soko is the priciest. Buy online at srbvoz.rs or at station counters and machines. Soko seats are reservation-only, so buying a day or two ahead is smart, especially on Friday and Sunday when demand peaks.

Check today’s departures on the live Belgrade - Novi Sad timetable. For dates from 12 October 2026, a Beograd Centar → Novi Sad search shows trains to TPS Novi Sad. On vozovi.rs passengers also report delays anonymously, so you can see whether your train is late before heading to the station. Official service changes are translated on the notices page.
Frequently asked questions
Do trains from Belgrade still reach Novi Sad station?
Not the old main station building, which is still not used by trains from Belgrade. From 12 October 2026 they stop at the new TPS Novi Sad stop on Rumenački put, roughly 4 km from the city centre. A few late trains from Belgrade still end at Petrovaradin. The free Srbija Voz bus from there into the centre no longer runs since 12 October 2026, so take city bus line 3.
Can I pay for a ticket by card, or do I need Serbian cash?
Cards work. You can buy online through the official Srbija Voz eKarta system before you travel, and station counters and ticket machines are the alternative if you would rather buy on the day.
Do I need a seat reservation?
On SOKO, yes: a reservation is always included in the fare and the number of seats is fixed, so a sold-out departure has no tickets left. Regio and RegioExpress trains do not reserve seats.
Does the train run at weekends?
Yes, though departures are thinner than on weekdays. Check the live timetable for the date you are travelling rather than assuming the weekday pattern holds.
